The role:

As the Assistant Accountant, you will bring a solid accounting foundation and eagerness to grow your practical experience. Working closely with the Senior Financial Accountant and broader finance team, you’ll ensure accurate and timely maintenance of the chart of accounts and month-end processes. You will also support statutory obligations and provide reliable financial reporting to assist senior management in making effective business decisions.


What you'll be doing:

  • Prepare and complete month-end processes accurately and within required timeframes. 

  • Record accounting transactions in the ERP system, applying relevant tracking categories to support detailed financial analysis, under the guidance of the Senior Financial Accountant. 

  • Assist with the preparation of profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and variance analysis reports. 

  • Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly activity statements, as well as annual statutory reporting (including FBT and income tax returns), under the guidance of the Senior Financial Accountant. 

  • Process and post monthly company credit card journals and staff expense claims through the expense management system. 

  • Maintain the fixed asset register and lease management system to ensure accurate records. 

  • Prepare monthly accounts for related entities. 

  • Undertake ad hoc tasks and projects as directed by the Senior Financial Accountant. 


What you'll need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance. 

  • CPA or CA qualification commenced or currently in progress. 

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an accounting firm or a commercial business within an accounting/finance role 

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the business. 

  • Strong initiative, attention to detail, and a proactive problem-solving approach. 

  • High level of computer literacy. 

  • Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency in LOOKUP functions, pivot tables, and complex formulas. 

  • Proven time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and manage competing deadlines effectively.
